‘I am always seeking new artistic challenges and I feel that my art and own experiences as an army veteran can help to deliver a very important message of remembrance.’

Gemma Doherty was born in Cambridgeshire, England and studied History of Art and English Literature at the University of York.  After graduating, she moved to London to join the British Army as a musician, performing at a variety of State events including Trooping the Colour and Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.

During her military service, Gemma’s interest in ceremonial art flourished and she took the opportunity to paint military subjects that she saw around her.

Now a class teacher and music teacher, Gemma continues to paint both military and musical scenes and regularly accepts commissions.
